Northern Ireland wedding photographer

Hi, I’m

Melissa Wright

Hi, I’m Melissa Wright, a Northern Ireland wedding photographer capturing relaxed, natural and emotional wedding stories across Northern Ireland and Ireland.

I’ve been photographing weddings for over 13 years now, and I still feel genuinely grateful every time I’m invited into such an important part of someone’s life. Weddings move fast, but what I care about most is slowing things down in the way that matters, so you can remember how it felt as much as how it looked.

My story

I didn’t start out with a big plan to become a wedding photographer. It began in a much simpler way, as a mum with a camera, quietly photographing life around me and realising how much I loved noticing the in between moments.

Over time that passion grew into a full time career, and I’ve now photographed over 300 weddings across Northern Ireland and Ireland. Even with all that experience, I still approach every wedding with fresh eyes, because no two stories are ever the same.

Because no two weddings are ever the same.

How I approach weddings

My approach is relaxed, natural and unobtrusive. I don’t believe in turning your wedding day into a long photoshoot or pulling you away from your guests for too long.

Instead, I focus on real moments as they naturally unfold. The laughter, the nerves, the quiet moments, the happy chaos and everything in between

I will gently guide you when needed, especially for group photos and portraits, but most of the time I’m simply observing and documenting your day as it happens.

Being a Northern Ireland wedding photographer for over 13 years has given me the experience to handle every kind of wedding day calmly and confidently.

My goal is always the same. To let you stay fully present in your wedding day while I take care of capturing it honestly.

What it feels like to work with me

Couples often tell me they felt comfortable quickly, even if they usually feel awkward in front of a camera.

That matters to me.

I want you to feel like yourselves, not like you’re performing or posing. The best images always come when you forget the camera is even there.

On the day, I’m calm, organised and quietly guiding things when needed so everything flows naturally without stress

Why this matters

Your wedding day will go by faster than you think. There will be moments you remember clearly and others you will only see again through your photographs.

That’s why I care so much about storytelling.

I want your gallery to feel like your day, not just a collection of images, but a complete story that brings you right back into each moment.

My experience

With over 300 weddings photographed across Northern Ireland and Ireland, I’ve worked in all kinds of venues, weather and timelines.

That experience means I can adapt quickly, stay calm under pressure and help things run smoothly when plans change, because they often do.

It also means you don’t need to worry about the photography side of things. I’ve got you covered.

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

I’m from Tandragee, Yellow Tayto Town, in County Armagh. I travel all over the North and South for weddings. From Sligo to Belfast, Dublin to Donegal, if you’re getting married anywhere in our gorgeous wee country, count me in. I’ll bring the camera and the craic!

Absolutely! I’d love to meet in person. We can grab a coffee and have a proper chat about your plans. If it’s easier, we can also hop on FaceTime instead – whatever works best for you!

Of course! I’d be more than happy to share a full gallery with you. That way you can see exactly what you’ll get from me – a lovely mixture of beautifully directed shots that never feel overly posed, alongside all those natural documentary moments from the excitement of getting ready right through to the dancing. Every gallery is unique to each couple’s day, so you’ll get a real feel for how I capture the story as it naturally unfolds.!

I aim to have your gallery sent to you within 4-6 weeks of your wedding day. This may vary in busier times. I want you to relive the day all over again as soon as possible after the day..

A LOT!!!

I never limit shots but it will depend on various factors, such as the weather, time constraints etc but typical between 300-500 to dinner call and close to 800 (usually more) if choosing booking until first dance.

Yes, as a Professional this is extremely important. I want to ensure that my clients and myself are covered. I have both Public liability and indemnity insurance.

I am also the President of the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Ireland, if cover needed should the unthinkable happen I have a whole group of fellow professionals to help.

My packages include travel to weddings within Northern Ireland and border counties up to 2 hours from my home in County Armagh. I’ll give you a custom quote for anywhere further afield.

I try to blog and share to socials as many weddings as I can however, unfortunately I don’t always have the time to blog everyone’s beautiful day. With running the business and having three kids, time is limited. So don’t be offended if your wedding is not on the blog.

To secure your date a booking fee is required and contract signed. All is done online. You can pay your booking fee via bank transfer. The balance is then due 2 weeks before your wedding date.
